Iceland is still a little-known island that, despite its small size, has an incredible amount to offer. Although this destination is only just taking root in the collective consciousness of travelers, it attracts more and more visitors every year, which is why it is worth seeing now, before it is trampled by hordes of tourists. Carter invites you to Iceland in truly luxurious style in the 2026/2027 holiday season.
It is worth visiting the island in summer. In June and July we can enjoy white nights, when it doesn't get dark at all and the sun hides below the horizon for only 2 hours. During these months, there is a good chance of good weather - on the warmest days, temperatures reach up to a dizzying 20°C. However, you must bear in mind that the local weather tends to change every 5 minutes, and in one day you can experience literally several seasons - a snowstorm, an autumn downpour, and then a beautiful summer sun.
Iceland is a unique place, and in the travel agency CARTER We provide an individually prepared offer of sightseeing tours, taking into account the needs and expectations of our clients.
It should be remembered that the main attraction in Iceland is of course nature – raw, majestic, and awe-inspiring. The rough nature of volcanoes, glaciers, tectonic crevasses and lava fields is softened by the omnipresent lush green grass and moss. Human settlements and buildings are rare here (the entire country is inhabited by just over 360 people), but when you do come across them, you can't deny their special charm.
Direct, 4-hour flights from several Polish cities make this country really easy to reach. Iceland will be appreciated by people who like to travel on their own terms, in a rented car. We will be happy to prepare a package of flights, car and accommodation so that you can experience such an adventure on your own. Of course, for people who prefer to have a private guide at their disposal, who will lead the entire trip on site, we offer such luxury trips, tailored exactly according to your preferences.
What can you see in Iceland? We hasten to answer:
Waterfalls – there are literally thousands of them all over the island. Apart from the most famous and impressive ones, on practically every road, sooner or later you can come across a stream or a minor cascade. The most impressive are Gullfoss, Skógafoss, Seljalandsfoss, Dettifoss and Glymur.
Glaciers - the largest of them, Vatnajökull is the second largest mass of ice in all of Europe. In total, all of Iceland's glaciers cover nearly 12% of the entire country. You can not only view them from a distance, but also explore their surface. In the Skaftafell national park, it is worth going trekking with crampons and an ice ax on the Svínafellsjökull tongue. You can enter the flat Langjökull on board a powerful off-road vehicle. A real gem is Lake Jökulsárlón, where you can sail on a boat among floating, huge blocks of ice.
Volcanoes – while driving around Iceland, from time to time you can see characteristic volcanic cones on the horizon. Many of them are still active, but fortunately their eruptions are extremely rare. The most famous is Eyjafjallajökull - a tongue twister which in 2010, after a huge emission of dust, blocked air traffic over Europe. The Eldfell volcano, on the Vestmannaeyjar archipelago, is also extremely interesting - during the eruption in 1973, in a place where there was nothing, a volcanic mountain almost 300 m high rose in one night!
Fjords - thanks to the activity of mountain glaciers, you can admire many characteristic valleys on the island with sea bays. Most of them are, of course, in the distant and isolated region of the Westfjords, but after only a 1-hour drive from the capital you can also reach Hvalfjörður, also known as the whalers' fjord.
Mountains and valleys – Iceland is an extremely undulating island. There are plenty of plains here, and most of the landscape consists of mountains and hills. Some of them have a characteristic shape, such as the soaring Kirkjufell, others captivating with their colors, such as the rainbow Landmannalaugar. There are also many unusual valleys hidden among the mountains, such as the Thórsmörk valley, cut by glacial rivers, or the Thingvellir valley, which is a tectonic gap between Eurasia and North America.
Black beaches and lava fields - which owe their black color to the volcanic origin of the sand - delight with their scenery and can be found in many corners of Iceland. The most famous, Reynisfjara, is additionally decorated with basalt columns and rock spiers protruding from the sea. The picturesque Diamond Beach is located right next to the Jökulsárlón glacial lake that flows into the sea, from which ice blocks are carried by the waves to the black beach.
Hot springs - the showcase of the island is the world-famous Blue Lagoon spa complex, with its water that has healing and skin-smoothing properties. However, Iceland is literally full of geothermal springs and they can be found in virtually every corner of the country. One of the most amazing is the hot Reykjadalur river, flowing in a beautiful valley, with prepared swimming areas.
Reykjavík – although people come to Iceland primarily for the nature, it would be a mistake to skip its capital. Reykjavík has an amazing, avant-garde atmosphere, provincial and cosmopolitan at the same time. It is full of great eateries, street art and charming architecture. It is worth taking a walk through its quiet streets.
