Jordan – an oriental adventure with Carter in the 2025/2026 season

Holidays in Jordan are an excellent choice for those looking for unusual travel destinations for the 2025/2026 holidays.

Jordan, or rather the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, is located in the Middle East, in the valley of the fertile crescent. It lies on the Jordan River, from which it derives its name. It is a country where cultures and religions combine. Jordan is steeped in history and it can be seen at every step, throughout the country.

Jordan's history dates back to antiquity and the Semitic people who inhabited it. The most famous of these are the Nabataeans. The country is mentioned in the Bible. Ancient trade routes crossed Jordan. The country is ruled by a constitutional monarchy, and is currently ruled by King Abdullah II. The best way to truly discover all of the sites is to take a guided tour of Jordan.

Visit Amman - the heart of Jordan

The capital of Jordan is Amman. It was the former capital of the Ammonites, to whom it owes its name. The largest monument in Amman is the citadel, which probably dates back to the 8th century BC. In this place, it is worth seeing the remains of the Temple of Hercules, the Byzantine basilica, the Umayyad Palace and admiring the panorama of the city. Another important point is the Roman theater, where not only locals but also tourists gather. This place is worth visiting in the evening to observe the residents and feel the atmosphere of the city. The most colorful of places is the center of Amman, the oldest part of the city and the former commercial district, which has retained its character to this day. This is where there are countless souks, or Arab markets. This is the perfect place to get to know the authentic Amman. There are numerous shops and stalls here.

The best hotels in Amman are Four Seasons and the hotel Fairmont.

Madaba, Mount Nebo and the Mosaics of History

Not far from Amman is Madaba and Mount Nebo. The first of these towns is famous for its mosaic, which is the oldest map of the Holy Land, covering mainly Palestine from Lebanon to the Nile Delta. The oldest and largest mosaic school is located in Madaba. While there, you can visit modern mosaic factories, where you can buy real works of art.

Mount Nebo is known from the Old Testament. It is the place from which Moses saw the Promised Land just before his death. Being at the top, you can admire the panorama, which includes the areas from the Jordan Valley, through the Dead Sea, to Jerusalem. Currently, there are the foundations of a Byzantine basilica from the 6th century. On site, you can admire mosaics with classical motifs.

Jerash – the city of Roman traces

It is said that to see the power of ancient Rome you have to go to Jerash (also called Gerasa). It is located about 50 km north of Amman. It is one of the largest and best preserved Roman cities. It belongs to the Decapolis, which in Greek means "ten cities". They were very rich, they were located in fertile areas and trade routes ran through them. In Jerash it is worth seeing the triumphal arch, hippodrome, amphitheaters, oval forum, baths and above all the remains of the temple of Zeus and Artemis.

Petra – a wonder of the world carved in rock

Petra is also worth visiting. It is a place located in the southwestern part of the country. The name of this place in Greek means rock. This city was carved out of the rock. It is the ancient capital of the Nabataeans, a nation that was engaged in trade. Petra is accessed through a narrow gorge, at the end of which is Al-Khazna, or the Treasury of the Pharaoh. In the further part of the rock city there is, among others, an amphitheater, tombs, a columned street and a temple of winged lions. Exploring the nooks and crannies of the rock city, you can meet Bedouins of that time who offer souvenirs. Petra is considered one of the modern wonders of the world. It delights at any time of day. It is best to spend a whole day visiting Petra, to be able to watch the spectacle of colors and shades that are created as a result of sunlight. Petra was the location of the film "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade" as a place of searching for the Holy Grail.

Wadi Rum – A Night in the Desert

For those looking for extraordinary experiences, we recommend an overnight stay in the Wadi Rum desert. It is an almost unearthly landscape – no wonder it has been a film set for many films. An evening by the campfire, stars above your head and the silence of the desert – such a holiday is unforgettable.

Relaxation and bathing in hot springs await!

Jordan also offers wellness-style relaxation. Ma'in Hot Springs are natural thermal pools with temperatures reaching up to 60°C, rich in minerals and nutrients.

The Dead Sea – impressions that will stay in your memory for a long time

A holiday at the Dead Sea is a combination of fun and regeneration. The water with high salinity allows you to float on its surface, and mud masks rejuvenate and improve the condition of the skin. It is a great attraction for both adults and children.

Aqaba - a holiday on the Red Sea

In the south of the country, there is Aqaba – ideal for a family vacation. It is Jordan's only seaport and a great base for sunbathing, diving and exploring the charms of the coral reefs protected by the Aqaba Marine Park.

For the active – canyons and adventure

Adrenaline lovers should visit Wadi Mujib – a perfect place for canyoning. Overcoming streams and gorges provides not only excitement but also close contact with nature.
