Egypt - attractions along the Nile

This country could not develop if it were not for the longest river in the world - the Nile. The climate is less dry than in the rest of the country, which makes it teeming with life on its shores. You can come to the Arab Republic of Egypt all year round, although tourists most often choose the seasons from March to July and October to November.

The land of the pharaohs

It is believed that ancient Egypt had its origins around 3000 BC, and King Menes, the founder of the 395st dynasty of pharaohs, who united the kingdoms of Upper and Lower Egypt, is responsible for the creation of the country. Archaeologists claim that it was then that, among others, letter and calendar. This cultural development was continued by subsequent pharaohs. Egyptian rulers began to be worshiped during their lifetime by Amenhotep III and his wife Tija. During their reign, Akhenaten and Nefertiti wanted to introduce a religious revolution - belief in the Aten and prohibit the worship of other deities. The new religion was not accepted, and the later ruling Tutankhamun issued a decree to return to the worship of ancient deities and move the capital to Memphis. An interesting period was also the reign of Alexander the Great, who liberated Egypt from the Persians and designated a new capital, Alexandria. The last pharaoh was Cleopatra VII of the Lagid dynasty. After her death, the country was a Roman province until XNUMX AD. There are a huge number of buildings and sculptures left from ancient times that you must see while on holiday in Egypt.

Amazing Egypt

Located in northeastern Africa with the Sinai Peninsula in western Asia, the Arab Republic of Egypt has been delighting visitors for thousands of years. One of The biggest attractions in the country are the Giza pyramids. The most popular of them, Cheops, is a monument included in the list of the seven wonders of the ancient world. Nearby there is a monolithic statue of the Sphinx, which is 20 meters high and 72 meters long, carved in solid rock. It depicts a lion with a human head wrapped in a nemes, a scarf worn by the ancient Egyptians. Another complex of pyramids are those in Sakkra, which was once the necropolis of Memphis. It was the burial place of rulers, priests and the most important state dignitaries. The name of this place comes from the ancient Egyptian deity Sokar, who transports the soul to heaven.

Due to the huge number of attractions, tailor-made trips and journeys are organized. You can find those that take place on board ships sailing along the Nile or those that focus on land transport. Regardless of which one you choose, there will be no shortage of attractions along this river. Worth visiting is the famous Valley of the Kings, where pharaohs were buried in the period from the 65th to the XNUMXth dynasty, and the most important tombs out of the XNUMX discovered are those that belonged to, among others, to Tutankhamun, Ramesses VI, Seti I or Merneptah. Interestingly, near this place there is the Valley of the Queens, where the rulers' wives were buried.
