San Camp

Lake Makgadikgadi in Botswana is a place for an extraordinary trip for two. This is where the once mighty Zambezi River flowed into the huge lake. Currently, Makgadikgadi is dry, but there is an unusual saltwater ecosystem here. The lake was once located in the Kalahari Desert, now it is a complex of salt pans that attracts a variety of wild animals and is one of the largest breeding grounds for flamingos in the south of the continent.

The unique nature of this place led to the creation of Makgadikgadi National Park. On its edge, extremely close to the above-mentioned salt vegetation, a luxurious San Camp hotel was built, which is essentially a complex of safari-style tents. During this original trip for two around Botswana, guests will be able to feel like they are on the edge of the world that civilization has forgotten about. Nothing stops you from getting to know the friendly meerkats up close, participating in the ancient Bushmen ritual of night hunting, and spending the night in the middle of the mysterious saltworts, observing the starry sky. Who better to introduce guests to the local fauna and flora than the aforementioned Bushmen? Guides from tribes that have lived here for centuries are ready to talk about the local culture, treatment methods and ways of surviving in difficult conditions.

The ecosystem of Makgadikgadi National Park and its saltbush can be observed during horseback tours. The destination of one of the expeditions may be the famous Chapman Baobab - one of the three largest trees in Africa. When going on a quad trip, you can have fun on over 1600 square kilometers of untouched areas. A classic safari in open-top cars will allow you to see fast South African gazelles, beautiful red hartebeests and southern oryxes, which live only in this region, in action. Night is the right time to observe lions, predatory big-eared otocians from the canidae family and brown hyenas. A trip to Botswana and a stay at the San Camp hotel also gives you the opportunity to see the migration of thousands of animals from November to April.
