Sasaab

Sasaab is a luxury hotel picturesquely situated in a river valley on the Laikipia plain in Kenya. It is located on the border of the Samburu National Reserve, through which the famous Ewaso Nyrio River flows.

During safari trips you will be able to see animal species specific to this area, i.e. the so-called the "Samburu special five": striped oryx, reticulated giraffe, striped zebra, long-necked gerenuk and gray-skinned ostrich. You can traverse the vast plains traditionally in off-road vehicles, but Sasaab has also prepared alternative ways to explore the unique ecosystem around the Ewaso Nyiro River: hiking, camel rides, quad bike trips, and even the possibility of booking a helicopter flight.

During the trip, early in the morning, when predators return from hunting, guests can choose a convenient time for breakfast. The guide will take care of a suitable place in the bush where you can eat a meal prepared on site.

In the evening, it is worth going to the Sundowner Rock hill, which offers a memorable view of the surrounding area. While sipping your favorite drink and enjoying homemade snacks, you can watch how the mood of the savannah changes with the last rays of sunlight.

Sasaab is an excellent choice for a holiday with children in Kenya. The youngest travelers enjoy spending time with Samburu warriors who share their knowledge about flora and fauna, teach how to prepare a traditional bow and arrows, and even how to create a toothbrush from one of the trees.

Hotel Sasaab maintains good relations with the Samburu tribe that lives in the area. Guests can visit a nearby village, learn about the lifestyle of the locals and see projects supported by the hotel aimed at improving the level of health care and education. It is also possible to shop at a traditional market. In addition, tribe members eagerly visit the hotel to perform traditional tribal dances and songs.

During their holiday in Kenya, guests live in safari-style tents with an area of over 100 sq m Each has a private pool and breathtaking views of the plain and the Kenya Massif. Since they are located above the Ewaso Nyiro River, you often don't have to leave your room to watch herds of elephants bathing in the cool water. The interior is decorated in a style combining Moroccan and Swahili elements. But you can also spend the night in the bush in a tent with mosquito nets and fall asleep looking at the starry sky.
