Ethiopia - full of secrets, history and unusual places, has always attracted travelers. We offer a slightly different view of this country - from a bird's eye view, or more precisely from a helicopter, which in 9 days will allow our guests to discover the temples of Lalibela carved in the rocks, the mysterious Aksum, where the Ark of the Covenant may be kept, and the Erta Ale volcano with a lava lake . And all this in the luxury of exclusive means of transport and unique hotels.
A Nomad Story representative will welcome you warmly at the airport in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia. Accompanied by him, you will go to meet the pilot and the helicopter. Depending on the arrival time, attractions will be organized, such as visiting the city or the National Museum, which houses the 3,5-million-year-old skeleton of "Lucy" - the oldest hominid ever found. You will also visit traditional houses and local markets. A great option for dinner will certainly be Ristorante Castelli, serving Italian cuisine. Overnight at the Sheraton Hotel.
After breakfast, you will go to Lalibela. Along the way, you will be able to admire the extraordinary landscapes of Blue Nile Gorge. Accompanied by an experienced guide, guests will visit some of the famous rock-cut churches dating back to the 12th century. Accommodation in a comfortable hotel from the Nomad Story offer.
On this morning you will go towards the Semien Mountains. You will fly over the Tekeze River, enjoying spectacular views. The Semien Mountains are the highest mountain range in Ethiopia, with the peak of Ras Dashan - 4543 m above sea level. They are home to, among others, fascinating Gelada baboons, elusive wolves and endemic Walia Ibex antelopes. Once you land, you'll go on a drive to discover the unique wildlife and nature in these remote mountains. Accommodation for 4 days at the spectacularly situated Gheralta Lodge in the Tigray region.
You will start the day with a picnic breakfast on board the helicopter. Scenic dawn flight to Simiens. Leaving the sun behind you, you will go on a trip during which you will admire spectacular views of the mountains and valleys at sunrise. You will fly over the fascinating city of Aksum, famous for its Stellae (granite monuments). In the afternoon, you will explore the Tigray region and its unique rock-cut churches, built at the turn of the 6th and 7th centuries. Overnight at Gheralta Lodge.
In the morning, after breakfast, you will set off to the area of geological depression, which lies up to 120 m below sea level.
Danakil is a place of unique salt lakes, volcanoes and gigantic natural brine pools. On the route, you will admire caravans of camels used for transport and belonging to the Afar nomad tribe. You will also visit Irta Ale, an active volcano constantly spewing hot lava. After an eventful day, in the evening you will return to Gheralta, where you will spend the next night.
On this day you will visit the Tigray region, including: extraordinary rock churches, carved on the tops of steep hills and heads carved in the rocks. Overnight at Gheralta Lodge.
The day of farewell has come. After breakfast, you will head towards Addis Ababa. The scenic route will lead along the beautiful western wall of the breathtaking Great Rift Valley. Overnight at the Sheraton Hotel. The next day after breakfast, say goodbye and arrive at the airport or continue your journey.
