Golf Safari in South Africa and Eswatini in 9 days

CARTER invites you to an exciting nine-day golf safari on the luxurious Rovos Rail train, prepared for both experienced and intermediate players. All proposed places also offer interesting activities for guests who do not play golf.

The extraordinary journey begins in Pretoria and heads west to Rustenburg. The city is surrounded by the beautiful slopes of the Pilanesberg Mountains. Today, after years of fighting against apartheid, Rustenburg is one of the world's largest entertainment centers and also has two championship golf courses, including one with crocodiles on the 13th hole.

The second day is a relaxing train journey to Sun City, during which you will admire the magnificent mountains and go on a trip to the Pilanesberg National Park, home to over 7000 animals.

One of the most important golf tournaments in South Africa takes place in Durban, the third largest city in South Africa, and we encourage you to participate in it, while for non-players, there is a trip around the city and the Valley of a Thousand Hills. While players enjoy the 18-hole course at Champagne Sports Resort, other participants of the expedition go on a guided tour to the sites of battles between the English and the Zulu tribe.

The tiny kingdom of Eswatini (Swaziland) covers just 17 km000, most of which is mountainous. For such a small country, it is surprising that it has two capitals: Mbabane is the administrative capital, and Lobamba is the royal capital - the country is an absolute monarchy.

Trip plan:

1 Pretoria – Rustenburg

The Rovos Rail luxury train departs Pretoria at 12:000.
During the trip to Rustenburg, guests are served lunch at 13:00 p.m.
During the train trip you will admire the landscapes. Dinner will be served at 19:30 p.m. (formal attire).

2 Pilanesberg

Lost City/Gary Player Country Club

Breakfast will be served quite early, at 6:00. On the second day, golf enthusiasts are invited to the Lost City or Gary Player Country Club golf courses in the morning.

For travelers who are not playing that day, a trip to the Pilanesberg reserve has been prepared, where there will be an opportunity to track down Africa's Big Five, and then a trip to Lost City's Sun City - a place that reminds us of an exotic amusement park with water attractions, a golf course, where we will invite guests for dinner at the club.
In the evening, on the way to Ladysmith, dinner will be served at 20 p.m.

3 Ladysmith

Today will be spent traveling to Ladysmith. The theme for dinner is "Africa" ​​or casual. You will pass the Majumba Hills, which witnessed the decisive battle that ended the Anglo-Boer War. Then you will pass the city of Newcastle, home to the largest Hindu temple in southern Africa.

4 Spion Kop

Champagne Sports Resort Golf Course

Golfers will be invited to a round of golf in the morning on the Champagne Sports Resort courses. Lunch will be served in the Club house.
The remaining guests will go on a trip in front of the Spioenkop Dam and the nature reserve at 9.00 Spion Kop Lodge is a restored farmhouse located on a 700-hectare farm that was once the site of one of the most dramatic battles of the South African War. Guests can admire the region's natural beauty and embark on fascinating tours of historic battlefields under the guidance of owner Raymond or his son Alastair. Lunch will be served at the lodge. Return to the train in the afternoon.
Dinner together at 19:30 p.m. on the train.

5 Durban

Durban Country Club/Beachwood Golf Course

After a very early wake-up call, breakfast will be served at 5:00. Golf enthusiasts are invited to play at the Durban Country Club/Beachwood. Lunch will also be served here.
The remaining guests will go on a sightseeing tour of Durban - the third largest city in South Africa.
The day will end with a shared dinner at the Rovos Rail restaurant at 19:30 p.m

6 Durban - Hluhluwe Reserve - Imfolozi Park - Mpaka

Early in the morning, we invite you for a safari to the oldest game reserve in South Africa - Hluhluwe Game Reserve.

Hluhluwe – Imfolozi it is the oldest national park, which was created at the end of the 19th century as two separate reserves, Hluhluwe and Imfolozi, which were intended to protect the endangered rhinoceros. Currently, about a quarter of the total population in Africa lives. During the safari you can also meet Africa's Big Five and huge herds of nyalas, impalas, wildebeests, kudus, zebras, buffalos, hyenas and cheetahs.

After returning to the train, lunch will be served. Meanwhile, Rovos Rail heads to Mpaka, Swaziland.

7 Swaziland/Eswatini: Mpaka – Malelane

We will invite players to play at the Royal Swazi Sun golf course.
The remaining guests will go on a safari in the Mkhaya reserve that day.

these are intimate encounters with some of Africa's icons. All journeys within the reserve are by guided tour only, in open Land Rovers or on foot, providing great photo opportunities and probably the best chance of seeing a wild black rhino in Africa.
In the evening, after shopping, the luxury Rovos Rail train continues to Malelane, South Africa.

8 Kruger National Park

Leopard Creek or White River Country Club Golf Courses

Early in the morning, players have the opportunity to tee off at Leopard Creek Golf Course or White River Country Club.
The remaining guests will go on a safari to the famous Kruger National Park, this will be another opportunity to experience a safari in one of the most famous national parks in Africa, which is home to numerous animals, especially the Big Five of Africa.
During the afternoon tea, which will be served to all travelers, you will have the opportunity to admire the beautiful views of the Drakensberg Mountains through which you will pass.
At 19.30 p.m. dinner will be served with a 20s theme.
The train will now be heading to Pretoria.

9 Pretoria

The last breakfast will be served at 7:00.
The train will arrive at Rovos Rail station in Pretoria at 10:00.
