Awasi Atacama

An exclusive lodge that was included in the Gold List 2019 of "Condé Nast Traveler" magazine, presenting the editors' favorite hotels. The area has an interesting history. It has already been inhabited for 11 years. years ago by hunter-gatherer tribes. Later, the region was influenced by the Tiwanaku and Inca cultures, as well as by the Spanish conquistadors. You can learn about the history of these lands during luxurious tours, tailored to the individual preferences of guests.

They use the services of a private guide and a driver driving an off-road vehicle. That's why the facility allows extremely easy access to geysers, canyons, petroglyphs and valleys. Guests can request full-day excursions or participate in half-day excursions. You can hike to remote volcanoes, visit high-altitude lakes close to the Argentine border, and famous attractions including the Garganta del Diablo canyon, the salt lake Lejia, the El Tatio geysers and the Valley of the Moon. However, after reaching Lago Cejar by bike, you can observe flamingos.

There is also no problem with organizing a horse ride in the desert areas. The decor of the luxurious apartments is inspired by the pre-Incan ruins located near San Pedro de Atacama. They have thatched roofs and private sun terraces with outdoor showers. In order to create a unique atmosphere and build facilities in accordance with ancient rules, the exclusive lodge cooperated with a local historian.

Using natural materials and fired bricks, rooms were created that are cool during the day and pleasantly warm in the evening. The al fresco restaurant offers unique Andean specialties cooked with local ingredients. The chef will be happy to give lessons and teach you how to prepare, for example, tortellini with humita in Ají de Gallina sauce. The bar offers an excellent selection of delicious Chilean wines.
