Waterfall, jungle, coffee and beach

A 13-day luxury expedition to Venezuela and Colombia will take travelers to the foot of the world's tallest waterfall, Salto Angel in Canaima National Park, where the water falls nearly a kilometer down; the labyrinth of the Orinoco Delta in the vibrant jungle and cloud forest of the Acaime Reserve in Colombia, where they will see 60 m high wax palms. Along the way, guests will visit the most important cities of both countries, including: Caracas, Ciudad Bolívar and Bogota.

Trip plan:

1 Caracas

Upon arrival in Caracas, guests will be greeted at the airport by a representative of our exclusive travel agency and transferred to the hotel. Overnight at the luxurious Avila hotel.

2 Caracas – Ciudad Bolívar

After breakfast, guests will be able to explore the vibrant, cosmopolitan capital of Venezuela with its most popular and interesting tourist attractions, such as the birthplace of Simon Bolivar, Bolivar Square, the Parliament Building and many others. In the afternoon, guests will go to the airport for their flight to Puerto Ordaz. Transfer to Ciudad Bolívar and overnight stay at the exclusive Casa Grande hotel.

3 Ciudad Bolívar – Canaima National Park

In the morning, guests will fly to Canaima National Park, which is an unforgettable experience in itself. During the flight, guests will be able to admire the unique landscape of Gran Sabana, dominated by shimmering rivers amidst the savannas, deep blue lakes and flat mountain peaks of the Guayana Plateau. The biggest attraction of Canaima National Park is the Salto Angel Falls, the highest waterfall in the world, almost a thousand meters high. After lunch, guests will take a short cruise across the lagoon to its many waterfalls. Then they will hike through the rainforest and savannah to the amazing Salto Sapo waterfall, where they will have the unique opportunity to walk through a wall of falling water. There will also be time for a refreshing and relaxing bath. Dinner and overnight stay at the luxurious Tapuy Lodge.

4 Canaima – Ciudad Bolívar

Free time in the morning. It can be used for optional trips, purchasing souvenirs or relaxing by the lagoon. We especially recommend an exciting flight over the picturesque Salto Angel waterfall. At noon, return flight to Ciudad Bolívar and free time to walk around the historic center of the city. Overnight at the luxurious Casa Grande hotel.

5 Ciudad Bolívar – Orinoco delta

After breakfast, guests will depart for Boca de Uracoa, a small riverside port in the Orinoco Delta, from where they will take a boat to Abujene Lodge. During a short cruise, they will have the opportunity to admire endemic flora and fauna. After lunch, guests will take a cruise along the branches of the river, with banks covered with dense rainforest. Here they will be able to observe freshwater dolphins, monkeys, colorful birds and other animal species. Then, guests will go ashore and go on a hike through the swampy area, where they will be able to learn about plant species typical of this place, including: palm tree mauritia flexuosa, or "tree of life" according to the local Indians. Some of the palm species growing here are found nowhere else on Earth. Overnight stay at the exclusive Abujene Lodge.

6 Orinoco Delta – Caracas

Today, guests will meet a family belonging to the Warao tribe, one of the last indigenous tribes in South America. The tribe lives in stilt houses built above the fertile land of the Orinoco delta and earns its living mainly from fishing. Guests will then travel to Maturin, from where they will fly to Caracas. Overnight stay at the luxurious Costa Real Suites hotel.

7 Caracas – Bogota

Today the guests will say goodbye to Venezuela and fly to Colombia. After breakfast, they will be transferred to the airport for their flight to Bogota. Once there, they will visit La Candelaria, the old town. There are colonial-style houses in pastel colors, with steel windows and impressive wooden doors, as well as picturesque parks. The influence of Spanish culture and architecture is clearly visible. Guests will also visit Bolivar Square and Monument, the Cathedral, the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament (del Sagrario), the Capitol and other historic buildings. They will then go to the Gold Museum, which houses the world's most important collection of pre-Columbian goldsmithing, ceramic and textile art. Overnight stay at the exclusive Abadia Colonial hotel.

8 Bogota – Villa de Leyva

Today, the guests will go to Villa de Leyva. On the way, they will stop in Zipaquirá to see the city's greatest attraction - the underground salt cathedral. Upon arrival at Villa de Leyva, guests will visit the well-preserved skeleton of Kronosaurus, a giant crocodile over 3 meters long. It is believed that these creatures inhabited our planet 130 million years ago. Then, guests will go to El Infiernito, the astronomical center of the Chibcha Indians, who determined the seasons using the shadows cast by the 34 columns located here. Guests will also visit the Santo Ecce Homo monastery, built in the XNUMXth century. Overnight stay at the luxurious Eden Villa de Leyva hotel.

9 Villa de Leyva – Bogota – Armenia

The guests will go to Bogota, from where they will fly to Armenia. It is a city located in the Colombian coffee growing area, rising between one thousand and two thousand meters above sea level. The mountainous landscape is dominated by plantations and this is where the best coffee varieties in the world come from. Guests will learn about the process of processing coffee beans. Overnight stay in a luxurious hacienda.

10 Armenia – Cocora – Salento – Armenia

After breakfast, guests will drive through the picturesque Cocora Valley to where they will start their trek to Acaime. Along the way, they will cross several bridges over the Rio Quindío and have the opportunity to admire wax palms, the national trees of Colombia, reaching a height of up to 60 m. Then they will cross a dense cloud forest and, with a bit of luck, they will be able to see various species of hummingbirds. The hike will end at a trout farm, where guests will be able to enjoy a freshly prepared lunch. In the afternoon they will go to Salento, a quaint village with a large square and typical architecture. Overnight in a hacienda in Armenia.

11 Armenia – Cartagena

Morning flight from Armenia to Bogota and then to Cartagena. Cartagena is one of the most beautiful colonial cities in South America with magnificent estates, narrow streets and charming churches. Guests will visit the La Popa Monastery, located on the highest mountain in the city, and the San Felipe Fort. This mighty fortress dominates the city landscape. Then they will go to the Jesuit monastery of San Pedro Claver. Overnight at the luxurious Don Pedro de Heredia hotel.

12 Cartagena or Rosario islands

On this day, guests can explore the streets of Cartagena or go on an optional trip to the Rosario (Rosary) Islands. The archipelago is surrounded by coral reefs and has been declared a national park. Guests can spend a relaxing day at the beach, snorkeling in the warm waters of the Caribbean Sea among beautiful reefs. Return to Cartagena in the afternoon. Overnight stay at the luxurious Don Pedro de Heredia hotel.

13 Cartagena – Bogota

Transfer to the airport and flight to Bogota.
