Samurai, hot springs and geisha

An exclusive 12-day trip to Japan will take guests to the world of tradition and modernity. Between Tokyo and Kyoto, guests and their guide will visit Shinto temples, learn about the gems of Japanese culture, both traditional such as calligraphy, the history of samurai or geisha shows, as well as contemporary ones - Harajuku girls, or bustling shopping malls with a completely different atmosphere than the one we know. .

Trip plan:

1 Tokyo

Upon arrival at Narita International Airport and completing immigration paperwork, guests will be met by an English-speaking guide and transfer to the luxurious Mandarin Oriental Hotel. Free time after checking in at the hotel.

2 Tokyo

In the morning, guests will go to the world's largest wholesale fish market, Tsukiji, and to the beautiful Hamarikyu garden complex located in the heart of Tokyo. Then they will take a cruise on the Sumida River, which will allow them to admire the view of the city from a completely different perspective. Once in Asakusa, guests will walk through the famous Nakamise-dori street to Senso-ji Temple. After lunch, they will have the opportunity to experience a bit of Japanese culture firsthand at the School of Traditional Japanese Arts, where Japanese adults learn, among other things, calligraphy. Then they will go to the Ginza district, famous for the most expensive real estate in the world. There are many prestigious companies, boutiques and restaurants here. Return to the hotel and overnight stay.

3 Tokyo

After breakfast, guests will be transferred to another part of Tokyo. The tour will begin with a walk around Yoyogi Park, where 120 plants grow. evergreen trees. In the heart of the park is the Meiji Jingu Temple. Then, guests will go to the nearby Harajuku district, where, while walking along the fashionable and crowded Takeshita-dori street, they will be able to see the gems of Japanese subculture, including the so-called Harajuku Girls. Guests will also visit Roppongi Hills, a modern shopping and entertainment center. After lunch, they will visit the Mori Art Museum and go to the observation deck located on the 52nd floor of the Roppongi Hills Mori Tower building, from where there is a fantastic view of Tokyo. Return to the hotel and overnight stay.

4 Tokyo

On this day, guests will be able to spend time relaxing or exploring Tokyo on their own. Optionally, they will be able to go on an optional trip to Nikko. The tour will begin at Toshogu, the mausoleum of Ieyasu Tokugawa, the founder of the Tokugawa shogun dynasty. After lunch, guests will drive to the picturesque Lake Chuzenji, which is located at the foot of the Mount Nantai volcano at an altitude of 1269 m. They will also see the wonderful Kegon Waterfall, one of the 3 highest waterfalls in Japan. Return to the hotel and overnight stay.

5 Tokyo – Takayama

In the morning, guests will be transported to the train station, where they will board the bullet train to Nagoya. After transferring, they will take a picturesque journey through the Japanese Alps to Takayama. The city is famous for its festivals, the most beautiful and colorful cultural events in Japan, combined with a wonderful parade of carriages yatai, i.e. wooden platform vehicles. Guests will visit the Yatai Kaikan museum, where the most important platforms, real works of art on a large scale, are exhibited. Overnight stay in Wanosato, a traditional inn (ryokan) offering 8 luxurious Japanese-style rooms.

6 Takayama – Shirakawa-go – Kanazawa

After breakfast, guests will go to the local market and then set off to Shirakawa-go, a picturesque town located in the Japanese Alps. Here you can see well-preserved traditional gassho-zukuri houses with sloping roofs. After lunch, guests will transfer to Kanazawa. Overnight stay at the exclusive ANA Crowne Plaza hotel.

7 Kanazawa

The tour of Kanazawa will begin with a walk through the beautiful Kenrouken Garden. Then, guests will go to the museum dedicated to the outstanding Buddhist philosopher, Daisetsu T. Suzuki. After lunch, they will visit the Higashi Chaya district, where there are many exclusive shops offering traditional handicrafts. In Kaikaro, a traditional teahouse, they will have a unique opportunity to meet and talk to geisha to better understand their mysterious world. Guests will also visit one of the oldest sake factories in the city, where they will learn about the brewing process of this delicious drink. Return to the hotel for overnight stay.

8 Kanazawa – Yamashiro Onsen

In the morning, guests will visit Nagamachi, an ancient samurai district. A visit to Nomurake, a samurai house, will be an excellent opportunity to admire traditional architecture. After lunch, guests will go to the Museum of Modern Art of the 12st Century and then be transported to the town of Yamashiro Onsen, which is surrounded by picturesque mountains, covered with forests, and is also known for its hot springs. 9 Yamashiro – Kyoto

In the morning, guests will be checked out of the hotel and will go to Kaga Onsen Railway Station, from where they will depart for Kyoto. The half-day city tour will begin at the Nijo Shogun Castle. Then, guests will visit the Kinkaku-ji and Ryoan-ji temples, which are famous for their beautiful stone garden. In the afternoon, you will be checked into the luxurious The Ritz-Carlton hotel in Kyoto.

10 Kyoto

The city tour will start at the Kiyomizu-dera temple. There is a wonderful view of the city from here, which attracts many tourists from all over Japan. Then, guests will walk along the old Sannenzaka Street. On the way, they will see Kodaiji Temple and the most famous sanctuary in the city - Yasaka Jinja Temple. Guests will reach the Gion district and will be able to admire traditional architecture and participate in entertainment shows led by graceful geishas. On the way back, they will stop at the Sanjusangendo temple, home to 1001 statues of Kannon, the goddess of mercy. Return to the hotel for overnight stay.

11 Kyoto

On this day, guests will be able to spend time relaxing or exploring Kyoto on their own. Optionally, optional full-day trips can be organized. One of them is a trip to Nara, the ancient capital of Japan. The most interesting attractions of the city include Nara Park, where thousands of deer run freely, and Todai-ji Temple, which is considered the largest wooden building in the world. The next trip is a full-day visit to Arashiyama. Surrounded by beautiful nature, the town is a perfect place to relax from the hustle and bustle of the city. Guests can walk through the bamboo forest, one of the three largest in Japan, and visit the Adashino Nenbutsuji temple, which houses 3 stone statues of Buddha, as well as the Otagi-Nenbutsuji temple, where you can admire 8 Rakan figures. Return to Kyoto and overnight stay.

12 Kyoto – Kansai International Airport

After checking out of the hotel, guests will be transferred to Osaka Kansai Airport for their return flight home.
