In the heart of the Khmer Empire

The mighty roots of fig trees wrap around ancient faces and crumbling walls. Every lover of antiquity - as well as computer games and adventure films - probably knows this image. This country is home to the largest temple complex in the world. Do you already know where we want to take you this time? Yes – for a 12-day, exclusive and luxurious expedition to the jungles and temples of Cambodia. With us you will see not only Angkor Wat, but also many other extraordinary places and views.

Trip plan:

1 Phnom Penh

Upon arrival at Phnom Penh Airport, guests will be met by a local Luxury Travel representative and transferred to the hotel. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, guests will go to the city center for a ride called cyclo. During the ride, they will see the Independence Monument and Wat Phnom. The Independence Monument was built in 1958 to commemorate the soldiers who died in the War of Independence between Cambodia and France. Wat Phnom is a Buddhist temple, one of the tallest buildings in the city and its focal point. Overnight in a luxury hotel in Phnom Penh.

2 Phnom Penh

Breakfast at the hotel. Today, guests will visit the Royal Palace, a perfect example of Khmer architecture. Within the palace complex you will see, among others: The Silver Pagoda, famous for its 90 kg golden Buddha statue and the emerald crystal Buddha statue. Your next stop will be the Champey Art Academy. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, guests will visit Tuol Sleng and the Russian Market. In 1970, the Tuol Sleng museum building served as a detention center and place of torture for the Khmer Rouge. Today there are many exhibits, paintings and photographs of the victims held there. The Russian market is a great place to buy valuable items such as wooden sculptures, devotional items, silverware and Indochinese banknotes and coins. Return to the hotel and overnight stay.

3 Phnom Penh – Skun – Kratie – Koh Trong island

After breakfast, guests will depart for Kratie. On the way, they will stop in the village of Skun, also called the "city of spiders" because of the exotic local culinary delicacy - grilled spider. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. Upon arrival in Kratie, guests will take a boat to Koh Trong and then go on a bicycle tour that will allow them to better understand the daily life of the local people. 4 Koh Trong – Kratie – Prek Kampi – Preah Vihear

After breakfast at the hotel, guests will travel by boat to Kratie. They will then travel north to Prek Kampi, where they will take a cruise on the Mekong River. You can still see freshwater dolphins here and there. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. After lunch, guests will drive to the province of Preah Vihear. 5 Phreah Vihear

After breakfast, guests will visit the ancient Hindu temple of Phreah Vihear, built during the heyday of the Khmer Empire. The temple was built on top of the steep Pey Tadi cliff in the Dângrêk mountain range, which marks the natural border between Thailand and Cambodia. A picnic lunch will be served on site. Return to the hotel and overnight stay.

6 Phreah Vihear – Koh Ker – Beng Mealea – Siem Reap

Departure to Koh Ker after breakfast. There are ruins of over 80 temples in Koh Ker, and the most impressive of them is the pyramid-shaped temple, built in the XNUMXth century. Lunch will be served in a local restaurant. Then, guests will go to Beng Mealea, where they will visit a temple complex located in the heart of the jungle and largely covered with wild vegetation. It is believed that the temples in Beng Mealea could have served as the prototype of the famous Angkor Wat temple complex. Transfer to Siem Reap. Accommodation in a luxury hotel.

7 Siem Reap

The complex will start at the South Gate, which is the best-preserved part of the ancient defensive walls. Then, guests will go to the center of the complex, where they will see the impressive and mysterious Bayon Temple, considered an architectural work of art. The temple is dominated by over 200 giant stone faces. Guests will also visit the palace complex, the Phimeanakas Temple, the Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King. After lunch at a local restaurant, they will go to Angkor Wat, the largest temple complex in the world. Overnight at a hotel in Siem Reap.

8 Siem Reap

In the morning, guests will visit two temples: Banteay Samre and Banteay Srei. Made of pink sandstone, the Banteay Srei Temple was built in recognition of female beauty. Lunch will be served at The Bong Thom Homestay's restaurant, which is surrounded by beautiful gardens and rice fields. On the way back, guests will stop in a small village for a refreshing coconut drink. Here they will be able to observe for a while how Cambodians produce palm sugar and rice. In the afternoon, guests will visit Preah Khan, Neak Pean and Ta Prohm. In the jungle-surrounded temple of Ta Prohm, left virtually untouched since its discovery, the stone ruins are entwined with the branches and roots of fig and kapok trees. You will also be able to admire the sunset from the Pre Rup Temple. Return to the hotel in Siem Reap. Accommodation.

9 Siem Reap – Tonle Sap Lake – Battambang

After breakfast, guests will take a cruise on Tonle Sap Lake and visit the floating village of Mechrey, where they will sail by boat among drifting houses. They will also visit a silk farm in Pouk, where they will learn about the different stages of production of this valuable fabric. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. Then, guests will go to Battambang province. Overnight stay in an exclusive hotel in Battambang.

10 Battambang

After breakfast, guests will have the opportunity to learn about the everyday life of people living in small villages in Battambang Province. They will visit many small factories that produce incense, rice wine, Khmer noodles, rice paper, prahoc (typical Cambodian fish paste) and krolan (bamboo stuffed with glutinous rice). After lunch, guests will visit the nearby village of Wat Kor and then take a bamboo train ride through a picturesque landscape dominated by rice fields. In the evening, they will go to the colonial part of Battambang, where they will be able to taste local cuisine. Return to the hotel. Accommodation.

11 Kompong Chhnang – Oudong – Phnom Penh

Guests will depart for Phom Penh after breakfast. Along the way, they will stop in the village of Kompong Chhnang to admire handmade pottery. The next stop will be in Kompong Speu Province, where guests will visit Oudong, the ancient capital of the Khmer Empire and the coronation site of kings. Lunch will be served at a local restaurant. Upon arrival in Phnom Penh, accommodation in a luxury hotel.

12 Phnom Penh

Breakfast and free time before checking out from the hotel. Transfer to Phnom Penh International Airport and flight back to the country.
