Raffles Singapore

The luxurious The Raffles hotel, part of the well-known Raffles Hotels & Resort chain, has been offering its exceptional services since 1887. It is because of its excellent service that it has attracted stars such as Ava Gardner and Elizabeth Taylor. The interior of the exclusive The Raffles hotel also became the setting for a film shot in 1967 Pretty Polly, which starred Trevor Howard and Hayley Mills.

Long Bar is a magical place where the history of colonial Singapore combines with modern decoration. The on-site 20s bar retains the spirit of the era with its earthy décor that evokes Malay plantation life. The iconic Singapore Sling cocktail, which was born here many years ago, still attracts lovers of good alcohol from all over the world. It was created in 1915 by Raffles bartender Ngiam Tong Boon and quickly became popular, especially among women who, thanks to its appearance resembling fruit juice, could drink alcohol in public places, which was forbidden for the fair sex at that time. The Singapore Sling is a gin-based cocktail with the addition of pineapple juice, lime juice, curaçao and Bénédictine liqueurs, and grenadine and cherry syrups, giving it its characteristic pink color.
