Ceylon Tea Trails

Ceylon Tea Trails hotel located at an altitude of 1250 meters in the heart of the tea fields in Sri Lanka, belonging to the prestigious Relais & Chateaux hotel group. This place belongs to Merrill J Fernando who owns the Dilmah tea plantation. You can reach this magical place by seaplane from the Colombo airport, landing on a lake among tea plantations, which additionally provides picturesque bird's-eye views. Each residence is unique and offers a homely atmosphere while meeting the highest requirements. 27 luxurious rooms and suites are located in five historic residences that have been meticulously restored, while retaining original period furniture. All rooms were named after the name and surname of the planters who lived in a given residence, which gives the place a unique character. Each of them has a fireplace, which will make your evenings with tea more pleasant. In the bathrooms, guests will find a bathtub, a shower and natural cosmetics with tea leaf extracts. It is worth mentioning the romantic "Owner's Cottage" which offers a spectacular view of the tea fields and the lake, and on the terrace there is a heated jacuzzi.

The specialty of this place is local Sri Lankan cuisine, and the dishes are prepared with vegetables and fruits grown in organic gardens. Here, every meal is served according to the tradition of the planters. The day begins with tea brought to the room by a private butler, then guests will eat breakfast in the restaurant. Rice and curry will be served with aromatic herbs for lunch, and to whet your appetite before the 4-course dinner, delicious single malt whiskey or gin & tonic will be served. And all these dishes are included in the price of the stay.

Following the Tea Trail it is an ideal location for trekking to Adams Peak, cycling with breathtaking views of the mountains and Lake Castlereagh where you can also kayak. However, the essence of this place is to learn all the information about the creation of this well-known drink, picking leaves from various types of tea, how to brew them, and tasting them during a private dinner.
