Bangkok, called the "City of Angels", is mysterious and delights with a variety of contrasts. It is often compared to a ripe mango. It looks impressive from the outside, tempting with modern skyscrapers, golden roofs of beautiful temples and colorful tuk-tuks driving on the streets. It tastes of lemongrass, lime, galangal and a sweet cocktail of dozens of exotic fruits. When we go deep into the city, to the very seed, we can feel the darkness of this place - red light districts, slums, stories about ghosts and magical, healing amulets. By avoiding the beaten tourist trails, we can get to know the fascinating face of this unique place. Bangkok is a great place to end your trip around Thailand or as the first point of your route.

Bangkok is a city of colors and contrasts

Here you will find elegant shopping malls with luxury products from the world's best brands, crowded street stalls, the complete opposite, and Chatuchak market, the largest in Bangkok, where you can buy literally everything. It is an eclectic art scene, cultural diversity and a feast for gourmets with the most demanding palates.

Streetfood with a Michellin star

In Bangkok we have a wide selection of both world-famous international restaurants and delicious street food that attracts fans of Asian cuisine from all over the world. One of the street stalls was even awarded the prestigious Michellin star. The owner of this place is 72-year-old chef Jay Fai, considered the master of Thai street food. This is just the beginning of what awaits visitors to the capital of Thailand, which is literally addictive.

What should you eat in Bangkok?

  1. Fresh tropical fruit – cut, chilled and ready to take on the road. They taste like nowhere else.
  2. Coconut water - this is where you can try the best natural isotonic drink, which is sweet water from a young coconut.
  3. Mango sticky rice - this is a flagship dessert that once you try it, you will always come back to this taste.
  4. Pad Thai – another flagship dish that is extremely popular. A simple and aromatic dish based on pasta and vegetables.
  5. Morning glory - stewed water wolf leaves, which taste similar to our spinach and are therefore often called water spinach. Most often, stewed leaves are served with fish sauce, nuts and chili.
  6. The brave ones can also try the local offer of dried spiders, scorpions and grilled cockroaches.

Transport and getting around in Bangkok

Bangkok has become one of the most interesting and popular capitals in Asia. It is a dynamically developing megalopolis with shiny skyscrapers, hedonistic shopping malls, luxury hotels, as well as a rich history and colorful culture. In addition to private transfers in luxury limousines, there is excellent public transport, but the most popular are colorful tuk-tuks, which are an incredible attraction and can often provide adrenaline. Anyone who has had the opportunity to experience such a ride at dizzying speed will probably confirm that it is a MUST BE, and besides, it is the best option to avoid getting stuck in traffic jams. This city of eight million inhabitants stretches in all directions and getting around it may seem quite complicated at the beginning, so for the first trip it is best to hire a private guide who will show you around the city, and the next day in a comfortable car will take you on a trip to Ayuttjaji, where you can admire the complex of ancient temples and palaces, which are undoubtedly impressive.

The best attractions in Bangkok

The Grand Palace and the Emerald Buddha are one of the symbols of Bangkok. Interesting decorations, gold, colorful figurines and precious stones combined with original architecture create the impression that we were transported to another land and probably everyone who visited Bangkok has photos from there. This is such a MUST SEE. West of the Royal Palace, along the river, we find ourselves in the colorful Chinatown. Another attraction that should not be missed is Wat Pho, which houses a majestic statue of the Reclining Buddha, 46 m long, entirely covered with gold. His feet alone are 4,5m long. It must be admitted that it is impressive.

The famous Buddhist temple is War Arun - the Temple of Shivtu, which is best admired at sunset. The view is phenomenal, and for the most persistent, we recommend a night cruise on the Chao Praya River, combined with a show of professional dancers and an exclusive dinner in the glow of light.

When traveling with the youngest, we recommend going to the Dusit Zoo, and for fans of nightlife, for a cocktail at one of the famous rooftop bars. Probably everyone will be familiar with the one on the roof of the Lebua at State Tower hotel, where one of the popular comedy films was recorded.
