Madeira – the island of eternal spring

Madeira is a small Portuguese archipelago located in the Atlantic Ocean, off the northern coast of Africa. The climate on the island is extremely friendly, especially for year-round tourists. Even in the winter months, the average daily temperature rarely drops below 19 degrees Celsius. Out of season, it is definitely worth going to the southern part of the island, which is much warmer and less windy than its northern side.

Madeira is rightly called the island of eternal spring due to the fact that it delights visitors with all the colors of green all year round, and the soaring cliffs rising from the ocean are breathtaking. Private car tours in Madeira are the most comfortable way to explore the island, and a travel agency CARTER® is here to help you organize them.

It's impossible to resist Portuguese cuisine, especially freshly caught fish and seafood. For dessert, we recommend the famous pasteis de nata, a pudding cupcake with crispy edges.

We can confidently tell you that a trip to Madeira with children is a great idea for the whole family to escape, even for a moment, from the uncertain weather in our country. In turn, if an exclusive holiday for two in Madeira sounds like a dream, our office will be happy to help you make it come true.

What is worth visiting in Madeira?

Funchal – the capital

Funchal is a city located in the south of the island, inhabited by 40% of all Madeira's inhabitants. It is worth spending at least 2 days visiting it, because it is a relatively small town and an ideal base for trips to other regions of the island. In our opinion, the best hotel in the Funchal area is Belmond Reid's Palace, from which you can explore Madeira. This is a hotel on a cliff in São Martinho, close to the port. The hotel is dedicated to lovers of luxury, timeless chic, professional service and spectacular views from the resort. You can start visiting Funchal with a short walk along the most interesting street of the capital - Rua de Santa Maria, where you will see interesting works of art by local artists at every step. It is worth going to the Tropical Gardens of the Monte Palace, which are located on one of the hills of Funchal. These gardens have been recognized as one of the 13 most beautiful gardens in Europe! For wine lovers, we recommend a visit to the local Blandy's Madeira Wine Museum - the oldest vineyard in Madeira.

Santana

Santana is a small town in the north-eastern part of the island, famous for its triangular, charming thatched houses. We recommend taking a short walk around what is undoubtedly the most colorful town. Attractions for children in Santana do not have to end there - at the end of the trip you can visit the Madeira Theme Park.

Porto Moniz

Porto Moniz is a charming town located in the north-west of Madeira, famous for its natural lava pools. Those in the west are more comfortable and adapted especially for tourists, while the towns in the east have remained without human interference, retaining full naturalness.

Saint Lawrence Peninsula

In the east of Madeira there is the furthest part of the island - the Saint Lawrence Peninsula. Trekking in Madeira is undoubtedly an attraction that will meet the needs of hiking enthusiasts. The one-way route is approximately 3 kilometers - this is time to admire beautiful landscapes.

Levadas

Walking on a levada in Madeira is an alternative to hiking in a slightly different setting. Levadas are a network of long irrigation canals that transport water from the north to the arid south. The levadas have different locations, so when choosing a trip, you should pay attention primarily to the length of the route of each of them.

A good idea to discover all the charms of the island are private guided tours to Madeira, and for luxurious trips to Madeira, visit our office in Warsaw.
