Icehotel Jukkasjärvi

Every year, when the Torne River freezes over, a new Icehotel is built in the small village of Jukkasjärvi in northern Sweden. The river's ice becomes the material from which the world's first and largest hotel, Icehotel Jukkasjärvi, is built from snow and ice. Where the midnight sun shines for 100 days and nights in summer and does not rise above the horizon for two weeks in winter, lies the small village of Jukkasjärvi. Here, 200 km north of the Arctic Circle, nature still remains untouched. The Torne River provides the ice hotel with enough ice each year to build it in its entirety. The Icehotel is open all year round, and guests can sleep here in both warm and cold rooms carved in ice and snow in the permanently open part - Icehotel 365.

It is worth combining a unique experience with the peace of nature and exciting adventures. Cycling, rafting, ice carving and fishing are just some of the activities that are offered under the sun that shines 50 hours a day for XNUMX consecutive days during the summer. When autumn turns to winter, the offer of adventures expands to include unique attractions such as skiing, dog sledding and observing the northern lights, as well as accommodation in the unique Ice hotel, where every year artists create new projects in ice, entirely made of ice and snow. The dining room and cocktail bar at the Icehotel are warm and traditional - here you can take shelter from the frost, although here too the ice and the surrounding nature remain the focus of attention. Acquiring ingredients for dishes from the area, we serve delicacies such as reindeer meat, moose meat, alpine trout and blackberries, prepared by Alexander Meier, a chef who gained experience in restaurants awarded in the Michellin Guide.

Guests can take advantage or book one of our special culinary adventures - chef's table, ice cream lunches or lunch in the bosom of nature. The Icehotel restaurant was recognized as one of the three best in Swedish Lapland. Located behind the lobby, the lounge is open from December to April and serves light snacks, hot drinks, cocktails and beer. The original Ice hotel Jukkasjärvi Ice bar was established in 1994. Visiting an Ice bar is something you should do at least once in your life. You can drink a cocktail or a glass of champagne here - from a glass made of ice, of course. Like the rest of the Icehotel, the Icebar takes on a new look every year. In 2018, the design of the bar is inspired by the properties of ice. A minimalist design is used to highlight the differences in each block of ice. Fuzzy Chisel is a transparent icebar that encourages people to meet.
