Thanda Island

The luxurious Thanda Island Hotel allows you to enjoy peace and quiet among the sea landscapes with your family and friends on an 8-hectare island off the eastern coast of Tanzania. The luxurious villa was created by the hotel's founders, Christin and Dan Olofsson from Sweden, for whom it provided the opportunity to break away from everyday life. The guests' needs are met by a team consisting of, among others: butlers, room service, bartender specializing in cocktails, snorkeling and diving trainers, spa therapist. Guests have access to a 1,1 km long private beach, and the nearby diving sites are perfect for everyone, regardless of age and ability, as the water depth does not exceed 18 m. Hotel Thanda Island is located in the Shungimbili Island Marine Reserve and supports initiatives to protect marine flora and fauna (including coastal dugongs, dolphins and coral reefs). Guests at Thanda Island can visit Chole Island, where shipbuilders will demonstrate traditional boat-making methods, Mafia Island with villages famous for its pottery, and the island of Unguja (Zanzibar), known for its spices, with spice plantations. It is worth going to Dar es Salam, where beautiful architecture combines African, Arab, Indian, British and German traditions. Delicious dishes are prepared according to guests' wishes. Chef Melissa is excellent at preparing fish and seafood, but she is also happy to serve Italian pizza from a traditional oven. Spa therapists perform treatments using allergy-free cosmetics at the guests' request on the beach, in a villa or in a cottage.
