Sightseeing tours of Mexico and the authentic Yucatan

Yucatan – Sightseeing tours and authentic haciendas

The perfect family vacation in Yucatan and road trips around Mexico don't always have to mean staying in a luxury hotel. Many people nowadays are looking for adventure, authentic Mexican experiences and, above all, unforgettable moments with family or friends. Meeting this and forgetting for a moment about hotels such as Grand Velas Riviera Maya, Belmond Maroma Resort & Spa or Hotel Xcaret, we offer you a stay in real Mexican haciendas, often with interesting history, character and uniqueness. We will make sure that your dream vacation in Yucatan is simply amazing. We invite you for an exclusive holiday in Mexico in haciendas, and at the very beginning we suggest visiting the most important attractions of the Yucatan Peninsula. This region is famous primarily for the ruins of Mayan cities and the fabulous beaches of the Caribbean Sea. However, we want to show that this is only a fraction of what this magical region has to offer!

What are the biggest attractions of Yucatan?

Cenotes

If you are going on a tour around Mexico, it is worth knowing at the beginning that the biggest attractions (at least on this peninsula) are located relatively close to each other - a few hours' drive. If you are going on a luxurious trip to Yucatan, you cannot miss visiting a unique place in the world - cenotes. These are deep underground limestone wells with crystal clear water. They were created many millions of years ago by a meteorite impact. Overall, there are over 6 cenotes in Yucatan. The deepest of all is an incredible depth of almost 340 m. These unique underground wonder wells offer visitors the opportunity to dive or swim at an average depth of 30-50 m.

Chichén Itzá

For many tourists, a trip to Yucatan makes no sense without a visit to the famous Chichen Itza, the holy city of the Mayans. This over a thousand-year-old historical site is on the UNESCO list. Within the ancient city of 5 square kilometers, we can also find a cultural and archaeological treasure, the Kukulkan temple. This place, apart from being one of the most Instagrammable in the world, is also one of the new seven wonders of the world. Chichén Itzá has something extraordinary about it - while walking through the ruins you can feel the magic in the air.

Caribbean coast - Mayan Riviera, Cancun and Tulum

It is impossible not to mention one of the most exclusive places in Mexico, the Riviera Maya. This oasis of luxury offers a wide range of the world's best resorts and hotels. The stunning beauty of the beaches and the vicinity of the Caribbean Sea make you not want to come back from this place. In turn, the abundance of attractions makes it difficult to get bored here. If you are looking for the perfect place for diving, kitesurfing, swimming with turtles or snorkeling - visit the Mayan Riviera. Riviera Maya also provides unique experiences - you can go to the MUSA underwater museum or explore the nearby coral reef.

One of the most popular recently, the Riviera Maya holiday region has to offer an endless riot of colors, tastes and smells.
Tulum is known mainly for its phenomenal, heavenly beaches, but also for its archaeological sites, which perfectly represent what the Mayan culture was like. Although a few years ago this town was not very popular, today it has become the boutique capital of Mexico, very Instagrammable and popular especially among young people.

It is also worth visiting Cancun, which is already popular all over the world and is the most frequently chosen Mexican destination among American and European tourists. To find heaven on earth, we don't have to look far, just go to the nearby islands of Cozumel or Isla Mujeres.

Izamal

The city of one color, i.e. the fantastic Izamal, captivates with its architecture, wonderfully preserved colonial style of buildings, but above all... its yellow color. This is a place that is obsessed with this color. While walking around Izamal, you will notice that most of the houses and their roofs are painted yellow. All this happened thanks to the visit of Saint. John Paul II in 1993, and the buildings have not yet returned to their original colors. You will feel a truly Mayan atmosphere here - you can hear the Mayan language on every side.

Merida

If you are going on a tour around Mexico, especially this part of the country, a visit to Merida will be essential. The capital of the state of Yucatan, and its largest city, is a riot of colors and delightful colonial streets, unforgettable sunset walks and incredibly friendly people. This one of the oldest cities in Mexico will surely tempt you with delicious regional food, which, due to its uniqueness, is known throughout the country. The city's interesting history, numerous monuments and tourist attractions are must-sees. When in Merida, be sure to try Xtabentún, a drink made from the plant of the same name. In the Mayan language it means "a vine that grows on a stone" and, according to legend, it was supposed to be a symbol of a woman who seduces men.

Real Mexican haciendas

The icing on the cake of your unforgettable vacation will be visiting and staying in a real Mexican hacienda. Most of them, especially those from the Yucatan Peninsula, date back to the times of colonization by the Spanish and almost always hide amazing stories to tell within their walls. The unique experience of spending time in one of these haciendas will familiarize you better with the history of this place. What's more, it will take you on an amazing journey through the past and will certainly not leave you indifferent. Today, Mexican haciendas are largely converted into hotels and are a real tourist attraction not only for guests staying there, but also for adventure-seeking tourists from outside the hotel. Knowing that they are often an important meeting point for the most important people in Mexico, and that they are also a place where Mexican telenovelas are recorded, it is worth preparing for a unique experience and unforgettable moments. With us you can stay in three wonderful haciendas, Santa Rosa, Temozón Sur and Uayamon.
