South Africa

South Africa is a country of excellent wines, delicious cuisine and the best golf courses. The South African Golf Association was founded in 1910 and brings together over 125 registered golfers. South Africa is very large and diverse, and ethnic diversity is best described by a popular saying "Rainbow Nation" (a nation with all the colors of the rainbow), which refers not only to the diversity of skin colors of South Africans, but also to the cultural diversity of the inhabitants. However, the richness of landscapes is faithfully reflected in the saying: "A world in one country" (the world in one country).

Fancourt is a dream come true for many golfers - believe us. As a result, you can easily combine your holiday with a relaxing game of golf.

Links – Number 1 in South Africa. A private golf club where you can play as a member or guest of Fancourt Golf Resort, which also includes Montagu and Outeniqua. Gary Player in his book Top Golf Courses of the World wrote that this is it one of the best golf courses in the world. Par 73, 6477m long from the yellow tees.

montagu – Number 2 in the region, number 9 in South Africa. It is one of the best parkland courses in South Africa, top 8 according to Golf Digest. The undulating terrain of the course, a large number of bunkers and quite narrow fairways are a challenge for every golfer. Additionally, great training areas - bunkers, putting tee, chipping area and driving range. Par 72, 4947m from the yellow tees.

Outeniqua – Number 9 in the region, number 23 in South Africa. Third course at Fancourt, another Gary Player creation. An 18-hole parkland course, designed for relaxing play. It is certainly an easier course than Montagu, but it still has some hazards throughout its 11 holes. Par 72, 5986 m from the yellow tees.

The best golf courses on the Kwazulu Coast

The subtropical coast of Kwazulu Natal is considered one of South Africa's premier golf destinations. He's in the lead Durban Country Club. In addition to Durban CC, there are many other equally great places to play, such as Zimbali on the North Coast, Umhlali Country Club and Prince's Grant - the best golf courses.

durban golf course

Durban Country Club situated on rolling dunes overlooking the mouth of the Blue Lagoon and the Pacific Ocean. The golf course is surrounded by tropical vegetation and is one of the most unique and challenging in the world. It has been consistently chosen as for years one of the 100 best in the world according to rankings and golf magazines. The par 72 is 6157m from the yellow tees. Believe us, the surroundings are breathtaking and the sound of the waves only enhances the feeling of relaxation.

Zimbali offers beautiful views of the forests and ocean. The designer is former British and South African PGA champion Tom Weiskopf. The golf course was built in a forest reserve with large differences in altitude. Therefore, the result of this cooperation is a prestigious golf course that harmonizes with nature and captivates players from all over the world. The clubhouse is decorated in a colonial style. The 5965-meter-long field is quite a challenge.

Umhlali Country Club is located in central Ballito, 15 minutes' drive from King Shaka Airport on the Kwazulu Natal North Coast. It may not be the best golf course in the area, but it offers plenty to do for visitors and their families. There you will find an 18-hole course designed by Peter Matkovich, 5 tennis courts and 2 squash courts. In our opinion, it is worth going there and spending time with your family, and as a result, you will benefit from numerous activities on site.

The best golf courses in the Canary Islands

Tenerife is the perfect place for a golf trip all year round. The island located in the Atlantic Ocean is called the "island of eternal spring" - due to the climate that makes it green all year round and temperatures range from 20-24 degrees. This makes it one of the top golf destinations in Europe. To sum up: the southern part of the island is warmer and sunnier, with sandy beaches and popular golf courses. This is great news for fans of this sport! You can get on a plane and after a few hours enjoy your favorite sport. Let's add to this the perfect weather. What more could you want?

Abama Golf Course

The Abama golf course in the southwest of the island is one of the most beautiful in Europe. Set against a backdrop of stunning ocean views and lush tropical vegetation, it provides stunning views from every tee. Designed by Dave Thomas, it is located right next to luxury The Ritz-Carlton Abama hotel. The beautiful red sandstone building looks like a paradise oasis, and the course itself is located in a very diverse terrain. There is everything a golfer could need on site, and the days there pass too quickly.

Perfectly prepared greens and fairways are very difficult and there are many water obstacles and bunkers with white, fine sand. We travel around the golf course in Melex vehicles equipped with GPS. Of course, players have a driving range, a 3-hole training course and a high-class clubhouse at their disposal.

Buenavista Golf Course

It is located off the beaten tourist trail and as a result you will definitely meet fewer golfers there. The course was designed by Seve Ballesteros and opened in 2003. It is located on the top of the cliffs overlooking the Atlantic Ocean in the northwest of Tenerife, right next to the tiny, charming town of Buenavista del Norte in the Daute Isla Baja region. The course consists of six holes, par 3,4, 5 and XNUMX. The fairways are generally wide and forgiving, but it is not worth checking - vegetation, rocks and tall grass just outside the fairways may make it impossible to find the ball. There are a lot of bunkers around the greens, but they are quite flat so escaping from them shouldn't be difficult. The location on the cliffs means that the wind has a strong influence on the game, but for the beautiful views it is worth playing there at least once. We checked it out and we can confidently recommend this place to you!

Golf Costa Adeje

It was designed by the famous golf architect Jose Gancedo. It is located in the south of the island, near Las Americas. This is an ideal golf course for a holiday that is not the most demanding. If playing golf is just an addition to your trip, this place will easily satisfy you. Some fairways are divided by stone walls, creating something like terraces. The greens are fast and generally large, and play flows smoothly. This place becomes even more charming thanks to the beautiful views of the ocean and the nearby island of La Gomera. As a result, they put Golf Costa Adeje among the most pleasant places to play during your holiday. Similarly to Buenavista, here we have 6 par 3, 6 par 4 and 6 par 5 holes.

We hope that the above text inspired you and was a useful summary for those who already play golf. With full professionalism, we will organize a golf game for you not only in South Africa or Tenerife, but also around the world. Unlike just relaxation, sometimes it's worth discovering your true passion!
