Oberoi Philae: From Luxor to Aswan in 7 days IV

Trip plan:

1 Luxor – Dendera – Cinemas

At 11.00 a.m. we invite guests to board the luxurious Oberoi Philae ship in Luxor, from where we sail towards Kino. In the afternoon, after eating a delicious lunch on board, guests will visit the temple complex in Dendara - one of the best-preserved such complexes in Egypt. The most important structure is the temple of Hathor. After returning on board, afternoon tea is served followed by dinner.

2 Abydos – Luxor

After breakfast, guests will visit Abydos. This is one of the most important archaeological sites in Egypt, because its history dates back to prehistoric times, and this is where Narmer, the first pharaoh, came from. Already during the Naqada II period, Abydos became one of the important centers, and at the end of this period it emerged as a center of power. The necropolis of the rulers of the first dynasties was established in this area. During the 6th dynasty, Abydos became a place of worship of Osiris. According to the beliefs of the ancient Egyptians, Isis buried the remains of her husband killed by Set in Abydos. Abydos became a pilgrimage destination, and since the 12th dynasty, famous mysteries in honor of Osiris were held there. The tomb of Djoser, a pharaoh of the first dynasty, renovated in the 18th dynasty, came to be venerated as the burial place of Osiris. Among the ruins that have survived to this day is the temple of Seti I from the 14th century BC. The walls of the temple are covered with reliefs depicting the king and his son Ramesses making offerings to their ancestors. The tablets found here, containing the names of all the pharaohs up to the time of Seti, are an invaluable source of information about the rulers of Egypt. At noon, guests return to the ship, which departs for Luxor. During the cruise, we serve guests lunch and then afternoon tea.

After tea, guests will visit the Luxor Archaeological Museum. After returning to the ship, guests will be treated to dinner.

3 Luxor – Karnak

In the morning, guests have free time to enjoy the charms of the ship and Luxor. After lunch, travelers will set off on a guided tour of the Karnak temple complex on the eastern bank of the river. The complex of temples in Karnak is dedicated to the triad of gods - the largest one is dedicated to Amun Re, the others to his wife - Mut, and the god of war Montu. This temple is a complex of buildings erected during the New Kingdom and later times. The Temple of Amun was connected by a long stone avenue of sphinxes to the Temple of the Birth in Luxor. Its construction was started around 1350 BC by Amenhotep III. Unlike the other temples at Thebes, this one is not dedicated to any divine cult or divine posthumous version of any of the pharaohs, but was dedicated to the renewal of pharaonic power. This is where the rulers of Egypt were crowned.

Back on board the ship, guests will enjoy afternoon tea, a cocktail reception and finally dinner.

4 West Bank – Esna

That day, after a very early breakfast served at 5.00:17.00 a.m. on board a luxury ship, guests will visit with a guide the West Bank of ancient Thebes - the Valley of the Kings - the tombs of Tutankhamun, Ramesses III, the temple and palace complex in Madinat Habu and the colossi of Memnon. The first pharaoh who ordered the construction of his tomb in the Valley of the Kings was Thutmose I, the last - Ramesses XI. After visiting the Valley of the Kings, guests will visit Medinet Habu. Before returning to the ship, they will visit the Colossi of Memnon - statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III from the XNUMXth dynasty. This is the only preserved part of the pharaoh's mortuary temple. At noon, the luxury ship sails to Esna, passing through the Nile lock once there. Guests are invited to enjoy afternoon tea in the club lounge at XNUMX p.m., after which they can enjoy some free time before dinner.

5 Edfu – Kom Ombo

At 5 a.m. the luxury ship sets off for Edfu. When the sun rises, we serve breakfast on board. Afterwards, the guide will take guests on a tour of the Temple of Horus in Edfu. Guests return on board for lunch followed by afternoon tea as the ship sails to Kom Ombo. Here we invite guests ashore for a tour of a unique double temple dedicated to the two divine triads: Sobek, Hathor and Khonsu, and Haroeris, Taneset-nofret and Panebtaui. Its characteristic feature is its symmetry - it has two adjacent naos, colonnades, and hypostyle halls. In the evening, dinner will be served on board.

6 Kom Ombo – Aswan

At night the ship sets off for Aswan. On site, after breakfast, guests will visit the High Dam and then the complex of temples on the island of Philae. The construction of the temple of Isis was started by Nectanebo I, king of the XXX dynasty. After returning to the ship, guests will eat lunch and then sail by motorboat to the Nubian Museum. In its gardens there are 90 rare monumental objects representing the phases of the development of Nubian civilization and culture. After returning, we will serve dinner to the guests.

7 Aswan

In the morning, after the farewell breakfast, at around 8.00:XNUMX a.m. the luxurious Nile cruise on board the Oberoi Philae comes to an end.
