Trip plan:
Cruise passengers are provided with an overnight stay at a hotel in Reykjavík.
You will reach Kangerlussuaq by charter flight from Reykjavík. The price of the cruise includes the flight. The cruise starts after greeting the guests and giving them safety instructions. Thanks to the presence of local experts, the journey will be full of knowledge and unique experiences during the exploration of Greenland.
Disko Bay is the wide, southeastern inlet of Baffin Bay and the largest open bay in western Greenland. It is full of exciting places to explore. Visitors will be sure to visit the community of Illulissat, which is located at the mouth of the Sermeq Kujalleq Fjord. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2004, the fjord is incredibly beautiful and invites you to explore it on one of the many marked hiking trails.
Another area included in the itinerary is the wild beauty of the Equip Sermia or Torsukatak fjords, located in the northeastern corner of Disko Bay. Both of these remote areas offer fantastic views of large, active glaciers and provide plenty of opportunities for hiking, paddling and Zodiac cruises. This is also an area where, conditions permitting, a helicopter tour is planned.
The municipality of Qeqqata, which means center, is the second smallest administrative region of Greenland. Located in the middle of the country's west coast, it is home to almost 20% of Greenland's population.
During these two days, the expedition team will work with local partners to ensure a balance between community activities and wildlife. Guests will likely visit Sisimiut, where they can explore the open-air museum, take part in local tastings or join a hiking group to venture beyond the city limits along one of the many hiking trails.
The Quark Expeditions team enjoys long-standing relationships with the locals of Itilleq, who often invite them, as well as their guests, to their events.
End of the cruise, transfer to the flight to Reykjavík. Both the transfer and the flight are included in the price of the cruise.
One night's accommodation after the expedition at the Reykjavik airport hotel (included).
