Botswana Safari 9 days

Kasane, Botswana

Botswana Ultimate Safari – a 9-day tour among elephants, lions and the landscapes of Africa

A Botswana safari means admiring multi-generational groups of elephants in Chobe National Park, flying over winding rivers in small aircraft, and marveling at one of the world's natural wonders: the picturesque Okavango Delta. There are places that are hard to compare to anywhere else in the world. Botswana is one of them. It's a land of vast expanses, wildlife, and spectacular landscapes, where humans are merely guests in the kingdom of elephants, lions, leopards, and hippos. On this unique nine-day journey, we'll discover three of Botswana's most fascinating safari regions – Chobe National Park, the magical Okavango Delta, and the legendary Moremi Game Reserve. All flights between lodges are by small aircraft, making the journey itself part of the adventure.

Days 1–3 – Chobe Game Lodge and Elephant Kingdom

Upon arrival in Kasane, we begin our safari in one of Africa's most iconic destinations – Chobe National Park. This park is home to the continent's largest elephant population. From the very first afternoon, you can experience the unique atmosphere of Botswana as you watch herds descend on the Chobe River at sunset.

Over the next two days, morning and afternoon 4x4 safaris and river cruises await. From the boats, you can admire elephants crossing the water, crocodiles basking on the banks, hippos emerging from the current, and countless bird species. Chobe offers some of the best wildlife viewing in all of Africa. When planning a Botswana tour, this park is a must-see for seasoned travelers.

Accommodation: The luxurious Chobe Game Lodge is situated directly on the Chobe River.

Days 3–6 – The Okavango Delta and the African Silence

Next, a small plane takes us to one of the world's greatest natural wonders – the Okavango Delta, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. From a bird's eye view, the landscape resembles a verdant maze of islands, lagoons, and waterways scattered throughout the savannah.

For three nights, we'll stay at the elegant Xugana Island Lodge, nestled on one of the delta's most beautiful lagoons. This is a completely different safari experience than Chobe. Here, the pace is set by the water. Days are spent enjoying motorboat cruises, excursions on traditional mokoro boats, and island walks, where you can spot animal tracks with local guides.

The continuation of the trip in the Okavango is captivatingly peaceful. At dawn, mist hangs over the reed beds, and the sounds of nature create a unique symphony of the African bush. In the evenings, it's worth sitting on the lodge terrace with a glass of wine and watching the sun set over the delta. It's here that many travelers fall in love with Botswana.

Days 6–9 – Moremi, one of the best safaris in Africa

The final leg of the journey takes us to the Moremi Game Reserve—a place considered by many experts to be the best safari area in all of Africa. The combination of wetlands, islands, mopane forests, and open plains makes for an exceptionally high concentration of wildlife.

We'll stay for three nights at Camp Moremi, an elegant safari camp nestled on the Xakanaxa Lagoon. Each day begins before sunrise, when the animals are at their most active. This is a prime spot for spotting lions, leopards, cheetahs, African wild dogs, giraffes, zebras, and vast herds of antelope.

A Moremi safari is filled with constant uncertainty and excitement. You never know what's around the next corner. It might be a leopard resting on an acacia branch, a pride of lions hunting at dawn, or a family of elephants crossing the water. Every day brings new thrills and new stories.

We spend our evenings by the campfire under the starry African sky. In these remote places, the stars seem within arm's reach, and the Milky Way illuminates the night like a natural spotlight.

Why choose this route for your Botswana safari?

This trip is the perfect introduction to Botswana, showcasing three completely different sides of the country. Chobe delights with its vast herds of elephants and spectacular river cruises. The Okavango Delta allows for an immersive experience of water, silence, and extraordinary landscapes. Moremi offers some of the best wildlife viewing in Africa. By combining these three regions, guests CARTER can experience the full picture of Botswana – a country considered by many to be the most exclusive and authentic safari destination in the world.
