St. Moritz and Zermatt – exclusive ski resorts in Switzerland

Skiing in Switzerland These are more expensive trips, but it must be admitted that they are definitely worth the price. They enjoy not only the fantastic, unique atmosphere of the resorts, but also excellent slopes, appreciated by even the most demanding skiers. There is no shortage of exclusive hotels, exquisite restaurants and the presence of the cream of society.

Where to go skiing in Switzerland?

Skiing in Switzerland it's worth going to St. Moritz or Zermatt. I once heard the opinion that St. Moritz is like a beautiful woman - she has as many admirers as critics. The second group are, of course, those who can neither afford a trip to this charming resort nor the company of beautiful ladies.

The fairy-tale scenery of St. Moritz and surroundings, dream slopes and bars with good music and champagne they act as a magnet for mountain lovers with a joyful and lively disposition. St. Moritz in winter is to Switzerland what St. Moritz is to Switzerland. Tropez is summer for France – the best place for elegant, crazy and endless parties. Movie stars, sheikhs, princes, businessmen, heirs to their grandparents' great fortunes, as well as representatives of the neauveau rich class have fun and relax here. In a word, all those who have succeeded in life.

After a certain polo tournament on the frozen surface of Lake San Murezzan, we, Poles, entered the history of this beautiful and illustrious resort. During my conversations with local hotel managers, one of them was clearly surprised by the fact that it was the team under the Polish flag that won the Cartier Cup, and he knew nothing about our country. He just asked if it was true that we drank so much... Well, I just replied: un autre coup de champagne, s'il vous plaît! (another glass of champagne, please!). After all, national traditions must be maintained. It's hard work, but someone has to do it.

Skiing in St. Moritz

Just about 10 years ago St. Many people associated Moritz only with a mountain resort filled with older clientele in furs and diamond jewelry, for whom skiing was secondary. Those days are gone. In 2003, after the Alpine Ski World Championships, the entire ski infrastructure improved significantly. Tens of millions of Swiss francs were invested in all amenities. Currently the resort has countless snow groomers and snow cannons, thanks to which the ski season here has been significantly extended.

Going to St. Moritz during the winter season, do not wait until the last minute to book a hotel. To avoid disappointment, trips for January and February should be booked several months in advance. A very good way to economically taste the charms of the Swiss Alps is to choose the offer before the season, i.e. from the end of November to Christmas. We will find it then fluffy snow and empty, incredibly smooth slopes. In stores, discounts on ski equipment and clothes start at the end of March or in April. Then you can really go crazy and for the price of skis you can also have boots and a stunning Bogner suit. In St. Moritz the saying "you pay and get what you pay for" is true. It's not cheap, but it's there beautifully and at the highest level.

To understand what exactly attracts people from all over the world to this tiny town, you just have to go there. For our part, we recommend it to your special attention Badrutt's Palace Hotel, which is famous for a modern SPA, delicious cuisine and fantastic service.

Skiing in Zermatt

If someone doesn't like engines and watching the latest models of extravagant cars, I definitely recommend another amazing Swiss resort - Zermatt. Cars are completely prohibited in this village hidden between the peaks. The only transport is electric cars and romantic horse-drawn carriages. Thanks to its unique location, Zermatt enjoys the longest ski season in the Alps. The village is located near the famous Matternhorn peak, which has become its symbol. A spectacular mountain, considered the most beautiful in Switzerland, has several names - Matterhorn (German), Mont Cervin (French) and Cervinia (Italian). This sphinx of the Alps has been an inspiration for many, including: for producers of Swiss Toblerone chocolate.

Whatever you say, the mountain is impressive and is best admired from the windows of a fairy-tale hotel Mont Cervin. The hotel was built in 1851, and a few years later it was purchased by the outstanding hotelier Alexander Seiler. It has been there ever since the "flagship" of the Seiler chain. The resort offers its guests a fantastic "Dine around" program, thanks to which we have... possibility of using 11 other restaurants of the Seiler chain as part of the paid meals at the Mont Cervin hotel. This way, when spending a week in Zermatt, you can go for lunch or dinner to a different restaurant every day - from Mexican, through Asian, Italian, and ending with a traditional Swiss one. The hotel is located in the heart of Zermatt, right next to the main shopping and entertainment street.

Skiing in Switzerland guarantees fantastic fun and a definitely high standard. In all international rankings of alpine resorts, St. Moritz and Zermatt are always at the forefront. Thanks to additional air connections from Poland to Switzerland, we have many options to choose from when going there in the winter season. The drive to Zermatt is a bit longer, but the stunning Swiss rail system and unparalleled scenery will be an attraction in itself.
