Lapland – the land of reindeer

In the north of Finland, in the northernmost region, there is Lapland, called Sápmi by the native inhabitants. It borders the Gulf of Bothnia to the south and Sweden, Norway and Russia to the north. There are about 9 Sámi people living throughout Finland, who strongly practice their traditions and develop their culture, and are engaged in reindeer herding, which have become a symbol of Lapland.

There is no clear answer to the question of when is the best time to go to Lapland. Each season is unique and has its own special charm. Attractions in Lapland attract lovers of this Nordic land from all over the world. Both winter and summer periods offer a large range of activities. If you are wondering whether a trip to Lapland with children will be successful, the answer is yes - it is an extremely child-friendly land.

What to do in Lapland?

Northern lights

This is undoubtedly the most popular attraction in Lapland. A particularly recommended period for admiring the Northern Lights is from September to March. If you're lucky, you can experience the exceptionally bright Northern Lights, which illuminate the majestic Lappish landscape like the brightest beacon. For people who value comfort, we recommend accommodation in a glass igloo and Hotel & Igloo Village Kakslauttane.

Santa Claus Village in Rovaniemi

In this magical world, Christmas lasts all year round. Your children will be able to meet Santa Claus and elves and have the opportunity to send a postcard that will arrive next Christmas. Reindeer sleigh rides are organized in the village, which will allow your children to feel the atmosphere of this place even more. Santa Claus' Village surprises with the number of attractions. For visitors, the village also offers dog sledding and snowmobile rides, which are also available for children. Moreover, in front of the Saint Nicholas Main Post Office there is the imaginary line of the Arctic Circle - an ideal and very popular place for a family photo!

SantaPark

It is an amusement park located underground and resembles a cave residence of Santa Claus. This attraction is recommended primarily for small children, slightly older ones may be less interested. The main attractions are magic shows, the elf school, the post office or Mrs. Gingerbread's bakery. Santa Park is open on specific dates. Within the park there is the luxurious Arctic TreeHouse Hotel, where, after intensive sightseeing, you can relax in elegant rooms decorated in a Scandinavian style with a view of the Arctic forest.

Dog sledding trip (Husky Safari) or reindeer farm

Snow trips with huskies or a quieter version - sleighs pulled by reindeer are another must-see. You will have the opportunity to get to know the animals better and even feed them. Especially for you, we are able to organize individual, exclusive expeditions with these amazing animals.

Ranua Wildlife Park (Ranua Zoo)

It is the northernmost zoo in Finland. Visitors will come face to face with over 50 species of wild animals, including lynxes, wolves, moose, snowy owls, European deer, brown bears and polar bears. This is a great idea as a one-day trip from Rovaniemi, which we will help you implement.

Levi Ski Resort

Finland's most popular ski resort is located in the town of Levi, just a 2-hour drive from Rovaniemi. Skiing enthusiasts can use three types of slopes, depending on their level of advancement. The peak season is from mid-October to the end of June. The area is also favorable for cyclists, snowboarders and fishermen. Levi Ski Resort has been recognized as the best ski resort in Finland. We will be happy to organize a luxurious stay for you in this unique place.
